New $700M Canal-front Development In Old Town Scottsdale?

If you have ever been to major cities across the US you will see thriving water-front communities or plans to become one. Well, based on recent news in the Phoenix Business Journal, Old Town Scottsdale may soon be added to that list…

If you have ever walked along the south-side of the canal from N. Goldwater Blvd to Scottsdale Rd, you may have noticed a mix of old and new along the waterfront. Well that is about the change with the proposed mix-use $700M development plan now in front of the town. If approved, this new development will include hotels, office space, retail and restaurants plus residential development, totaling nearly 1.7 million square feet. It is reported that the development would include 282,000 square feet of commercial space, 295 residential units, 333 hotel rooms and 1,528 parking spaces, according to city documents.

All of this will likely make your future walks and activities south of the Stetson Plaza Shopping Center to Scottsdale Road look very different and potentially much more exciting in the years to come. As more details come available I will post them here so stay tuned…
